Minka, an Ecuadorian chocolate manufacturer, is known for its collections of semi-finished chocolates. These chocolates are presented in elegant cardboard tubes, designed by tridimage, that reflect the natural essence of the product. The design was inspired by the very origin of the product, the cocoa tree. The branch and the bean inspired the creation of a simple yet iconic silhouette shape, filled with bright colors to differentiate each variety.

The unique properties of this design lie in its ability to present chocolate connoisseurs with a world of sensations. The product is handcrafted in Ecuador using traditional techniques combined with stringent quality controls. This blend of craftsmanship and technology ensures a product of the highest quality. The brown background of the packaging conveys the cocoa intensity, while the color shades create a oneiric atmosphere, making the consumer feel they are in a dream that came true.

The packaging is realized through a 7-color printed cardboard tube with copper foil stamping. The production of the creative concepts and design were done in Buenos Aires, while the package printing was in Ecuador. The chocolate nibs are harvested and packaged locally, further emphasizing the authenticity and quality of the product.

One of the challenges faced in this design was to communicate that these are raw chocolate nibs and not an ordinary chocolate bar. The playful color scheme and the depiction of the cocoa bean on the packaging successfully convey the local Ecuadorian culture that produces these raw chocolate nibs.

tridimage's design for Minka Chocolate was awarded Silver in A' Packaging Design Award in 2019.
